FEU CAVITE STORY

Far Eastern University (FEU) expanded the legacy of its Founder Dr. Nicanor Reyes, Sr. beyond Manila. Incorporated in 2009, FEU Cavite, located within the gated and secured environs of MetroGate Silang Estates in Silang, Cavite, consists of two modern and medium-rise buildings, one for Basic Education and another for Higher Education, built on two separate sites. The pristine campus rests amidst an invigorating atmosphere, with the eco-friendly structures housing spacious classrooms, equipped with state-of-the-art learning facilities that are deemed at par with existing international schools.

In June 2010, FEU Cavite opened its doors to students for preschool, grade school, high school, and college levels. In June 2016, the school welcomed its first batch of senior high school students (Grades 11 and 12). At present, pursuing the offering for continuing education, FEU Cavite offers Teacher Certificate Program (TCP) with 18 units of professional education courses to non-graduates of Education course who want to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and enter the academe. It also opened its graduate degree programs, such as the Masters in Business Administration and Masters of Arts in Psychology, to professionals who wanted to proceed with further advancement in their careers.

FEU Cavite shifted to ‘This TAM’s Learning’ in 2020 as the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with modes of learning that allowed the students to continue receiving quality education while ensuring their general safety and well-being. FEU Cavite learning experience became available beyond the campus and its classrooms. Classes were both synchronous and asynchronous utilizing videoconferences that can be recorded and played back for review and discussion boards where students and teachers can connect to clarify lessons and projects. These were made possible with FEU Cavite’s flexible learning environment that includes online delivery of lessons through Canvas, a learning management system that has been utilized by the institution for about five (5) years now, or through Microsoft Applications such as MS Teams. While learning activities and standards are required, student wellness and mental health are maintained with constant monitoring during homeroom, consultations with the Health Services Department (HSD), and counseling sessions provided by the Guidance, Counseling, and Career Office (GCCO).

In February 2022, FEU Cavite was ready to welcome back its students to the campus. The Higher Education Department is the first campus in Cavite to receive approval from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to conduct limited face-to-face classes for all levels and programs. While in April 2022, the Senior High School and Basic Education Departments followed the Hyflex Learning approach where the students either joined their classes face-to-face or online.

SY 2022-2023 started welcoming back all the Tamaraws to the campus prepared to face the future. HED has its classes at 100% face-to-face capacity while SHS and BED have their students attend classes face-to-face for three (3) days and online for two (2) days.

The Basic Education Department (BED) is a certified Education Service Contracting (ESC) school. FAPE (Fund for Assistance to Private Education) granted the certification in April 2016. Since then, deserving elementary students have been availing of this government financial assistance to be able to pursue secondary education in private schools. It started with 30 Grade 7 ESC grantees.

Equipping the learners with relevant competencies, BED implements the Scholastic Reading program and MathScore to enhance students’ critical thinking skills, develop positive reading experience, and practice mathematical skills through computer-adaptive technology. Students won various competitions like the ENFILSCIMAPEHTORY Quiz Bee.

In the SY 2016-2017, the Senior High School (SHS) Department successfully implemented the first year of SHS and accommodated more than 150 students from Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas areas into the STEM, ABM, and HUMSS academic tracks.

The BED and SHS departments conduct regular Curriculum Mapping and Unit Planning Workshops to strengthen their teachers’ skills in building on what the students previously and progressively prepare them for higher-level of work. .

The Higher Education Department (HED) offers degree programs in Accountancy, Accounting Information System, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Information Technology, Tourism Management, and Psychology. In SY 2020-2021, FEU Manila extended its Communication, Medical Technology, and Political Science programs to FEU Cavite.
